Diogenes Laertius in the chapters of his book, which
was dedicated to CYNIC PHILOSOPHER of SINOPE, says:
"People said that Diogenes was allmost 90 years old when the circle of his life closed. How did he die? There are different opinions: one of them is that Diogenes ate an uncooked octapus and got sick! He could not digest it and died. But together with that view there are many others but most of them agree that Diogenes went with his will to meet death! A strange way! He kept lips fiercly closed,in a way that breath was impossible,so suffocated to death!
Kerkidas from Megalopolis dedicated this poem to Diogenes.
THE OLD PHILOSOPHER FROM SINOPE
HE DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE
HE WAS FAMEST FOR HIS WAY OF LIVING AND TEACHING
HE ALLWAYS CARRIED A STICK AND WORE A WORNOUT ROBE
HE LIVED IN THE COUNTRY SIDE BECAUSE HOUSES COULD NOT HAVE ROOM
FOR HIS FREEDOM
HE KEPT LIPS FIERCLY CLOSED HE STOPPED BREATHING AND DIE
I THINK THAT IT IS FAIR THAT HIS NAME WAS DIOGENES
HE WAS A SEED OF DIAS (ZEUS) THE FATHER OF ALL GODS
