The focus of this project has been the design of a cheap hardware-based antipiracy module with strong support of DRM / eCommerce functions and secure conditional access to local and remote computational resources.

eSmartLock received the Jury award at the eGateOpen 2004 developer contest at Washington DC (Washington Convention Center CTST 2004) on April 2004. Contest sponsors were Axalto, ST, and Sun Microsystems. The E-Gate Open jury, which was made up of key IT and e-business leaders, selected the winning projects based on their innovation, marketing appeal, ease of implementation, user-friendliness, cost-effectiveness, security and business potential.

eSmartLock is a USB CardJava based platform, which offers a multitude of services in Client / Server configuration, ranging from DRM management, antipiracy protection, timeStamping, eCommerce facilitation, product key parsing, VPN networking, PKI infrastructure and Secure Save / Load operations.
