Maria Toxavidi was born in Patras. She studied Fine Arts & Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Fachhochschule Hannover – Bereich Kunst und Design) at Hannover, Germany from 1985-1990. She graduated with the highest degree (1 to 1).
From then onwards she has had solo and group exhibitions in Greece, Germany, England and West Africa.
She has worked with contemporary experimental theater companies (on stage setting and costumes) and the Greek television (on stage setting and commercial spots) and she has done illustrations for the greek and foreign Press.
She has conceived and carried out artistic projects for the advertising campaigns of well-known brands. Among these we might name “Dewar’s” (United Distillers), “Marlboro” & “Chesterfield” (Phillip Morris). During the last fifteen years she has done lots of art interventions to several interior spaces in Greece and Germany. She is an arts and design tutor in the field of private education in Greece.
