Function
The aim is the support
of people’s health on the island. A further goal to be achieved is
the balance between costs and benefits. Future results of this
service will depend on efficiency and quality of our Telemedical
clinical functions. The key to a good development of the system is
the consideration of “human factors” of both local and remote
operators; another important factor is the feeling of acceptance on
the part of people living on the island . The technological
evolution will require much attention and no expensive mistakes nor
false enthusiasm. The direct clinical relationship between the
patient, his/her family and the Doctor on the field must be
respected. Other clinical applications of telemedicine can be
expected in Tilos also for special cases and diseases, such as
hypertension, thyroid’s disease, trauma, diabetes, strokes,
psychiatry, pregnancy monitoring and others.
