Special Service
Telesonography
The goal is
to get a suitable support with “ultrasound images” obtained in real time by
a not specialised technician (remote station) and read by a Specialist
(Reference Center).
The experience was developed during a first pioneer phase
(TIMTEM updating 2001) and later during TIMTEM 2002 with a good standard of
use: detailed Reports are available (WEB- MEDLINE). The remote technician
moves the probe on the patient’s body (abdomen and neck above all) following
the Specialist’s instructions (videoconference system integrated with “US
window”) after a special training and a continuous up dating with
tele-training.
The images- color doppler as well- are read by the Specialist who can
suggest or not a diagnosis , inform the Doctor and support him in his
“decision making”. The images can be stored and then compared by means of a
U.S. Archive-Registry . Details about methodology and results can be checked
in published papers. A “Remote Telesonography’s methodologies and training
handbook” is coming soon from TIMTEM experience.
