1. Visit to the Center of Environmental Education of Klitoria


A group of twenty pupils accompanied by four teachers visited CEE of Klitoria, on the mountains of central Peloponnese. They will stay there four days, 19-22 of January 1998 to study water in many different ways. This visit organized in the frame of "Water" program.
 

2. Training Course of the School Master in England


During August1999, the School Master Dr G. Antonopoulos went to England as an attendee of a training course about PV (PhotoVoltaics). This course was organised by IT Power Ltd. It was a really fruitful experience. The whole project took place in the framework of Greek Solar School Net.

3. Visit of Italian and Portuguese Teachers in our School


In the end of September, 1998, Mrs. Teresa Danielli from Italy, vise school master of Scuola Media Statale "Vittorino da Feltre", and Mrs. Margarita Salgueiro with Paula Mauricio from Portugal, teachers of Escola Secundaria "Jose Loureiro Botas" , came to Zakynthos to pay a visit to our school. They work with the pupils who are involved in the water program. They discuss a lot of details about the common work the three schools have to do in cooperation. They did not forget to give us some characteristic spots of their countries educational systems and exchange ideas about the future of EU.

4. Visit of German Teachers in our School


Mr Adolf Weiss and Josef  Hartung, teachers of the coordinating school,  Staatliche Realschule Burglengenfeld, visited our school, at 5th of October 1999. They came along from Germany to  work with the pupils, who are involved in the religion differences program. They discussed a lot of details about the common work the four schools have to do in cooperation. 

5. Training Course of the School Master in Prague


During May 2000, the School Master Dr G. Antonopoulos went to Prague CR, for a study visit in the framework of the European commission SOCRATES-ARION program. The  study visit organized by Gymnasium Christiana Dopplera and has  the title "Problems in teaching physics". It attracted participants for several European countries, actually 3 from Great Britain,3 from germany,2 from Greece,2 from Spain,1 from Belgium,1 from Romania, 1 from Slovenia and 1 from Italy.

6. Farewell year 2000

Last day of 2000, pupils of the school organized a party. The school band played their favorite songs and the kids danced under the modern bits. It was a really nice cheerful show. We hope to continue with such kind of outbreaks.

7. Carnival 2003

The day started with a school party. Pupils and teachers danced together in high spirits.

Our school participates in carnival manifestations with a traditional folkloric play, called "omilia". In this kind of theatrical medieval  play, act  only male actors. Eight boys, all pupils of 1st Gymnasium of Zante participated and created a great success getting a warm applause, playing in front of public in the main square of the Island.

After the play they danced a traditional local dance called "gaitanaki" giving a lot of fun.

8.  Kostas Fykas in the 1st Gymnasium

In 8-4-03 the golden Paraolymbic games winer of swimming  Costas Fykas visited our school. In the frames of the program of Olympic Education he talked to the children, answering in their questions and then he spoke for his objectives in 2004, for his course up to the golden medals and the world record as well as for his activity as student of Medical Faculty Athens. The acquaintance of Mr Fykas it constituted important experience as the children realised the force of soul that allocate these athletes and their will for a creative life. The children welcomed him  with messages  painted in banners and bidded farewell with songs that wrote by themselves on the subject Olympic and Paraolympic Games of  2004. Finally they gaved all together a promise... "we will also be  there!!!".

9. Αn enchanting evening

In the 11th-05-2003, the chorus of 1st Gymnasium in collaboration with school mantoljnata of Zakynthos, they presented a rich repertory of traditional Zante songs enriched with compositions of other valorisen composers. The event took place in the room of Intellectual Centre, which was full of people, and it received the  most positive comments from the public that attended it.

Main factors of the manifestation were the music teachers: Meintanis Costas and Xanthaki Aggeliki

10. Water shortage, the problem of our season. Management of water resources

On 29 September 200,3 in the room of multiple uses of 1st High school of Zakynthos it took place an event of pupils of the school, that participated in a program of environmental education of the  University of the Aegean (http://www.aegean.gr/intro_en.htm) (SPECIAL TRAINING PROGRAM).  The subject was: «Water shortage, the problem of our season. –Management of water resources». During the event, the students presented their work, exposed their conclusions  and they made their proposals for the solution the problem. In the meanwhile musical pieces were heard  and projection of transparencies were shown. The event was attended by  Directors of other schools, the Head of , the president  of DEYAZ and the Association of parents and tutors.

 

 

11. Lighting on the Xmas tree

On 11 December 2003, the chorus of school took part with christmas songs, in the festive events that organised the Municipality of Zakynthos for lighting on the christmas tree in  the central square of the town.

       

12. Xmas feast

On 20 December 2003 the chorus of school took part in a feast that organised the Perfecture of  Zakynthos dedicated to the children. The chorus accompanied a  mandolin orchestra  with three songs under the conduct of Kostas Meintanis.The evening closed with a song under the conduct of Angeliki Xanthaki.

      

13. Carnival 2004

Our school participated in carnival manifestations with a traditional folkloric play, called "omilia".. Nine boys, all pupils of 1st Gymnasium of Zante participated and created a great success getting a warm applause, playing in front of public in the main square of the Island. The play has also been included as a program of cultural subjects during school year 2003-2004.
