Rou is a village high up the side of Pantokratora Mountain. The homes there were built over 100 years ago from the natural
material available in the area, Stone. The walls are at least half a meter thick which serve as a natural insulater making
summers cool and winters warm and dry. To built such a home today would cost a small fortune.
The arched doorway, so characteristic of Corfu's architecture is well demonstrated here in Rou. This is an entrance to the
'katoi' (storage and stable) of one of the homes on our books. Animals in the past were kept in the lower 'katoi' as a source
