Between 1991 and 1996, I worked as a teaching and research assistant at the
Computer Aided Process Engineering Laboratory of
Ecole Centrale Paris, and in parallel I obtained a PhD in the area of biofuels. Immediately after this position I moved into Cambridge
(UK) to work as a senior staff engineer until April 2003
for Aspen Technology,
a world-wide leading supplier of engineering software and services to the process industries. While
at Aspen Technology I have been involved in proposing technology, software and
business directions in the area of Modelling & Simulation. I was responsible
for the development and introduction into practice of innovative new online
dynamic simulation technology with a proven impact in the efficiency of industrial plant operations.
I also developed a variety of process models and performed engineering studies
for plant analysis, operations support, process optimisation, control and
operator training.
I have more than 10 years experience in process modelling, dynamic simulation, optimisation
and real time Process Information Management Systems.
I have also unique experience in on-line steady-state and dynamic modelling
applications, model based process control, process
monitoring and related software applications.
In summer 2002, I received from Larry Evans, founder, chairman and CEO
of AspenTech until October 2002 the highest AWARD for Outstanding
New Technical Achievements in Applied Technology. The award was
related to the industrial implementation (Dow-Chemical, PPG Industries, Equistar
Chemicals) of robust, on-line, continuously calibrated, large-scale, first
principles dynamic process models and software development of underlying technology
product Aspen SEM - State Estimation Technology (Kalman Filtering).
Between September 2003 and February 2005, I provided engineering services to
ABB Automation, St. Neots, UK related to the application and automation of best practices for the
hardware I/O design and DCS database configuration for the Caspian Sea field development projects.
The tools and methodology developed contributed to deliver the Sangachal projects in the
required schedule and quality. From September 2004 to October 2006 I provided Project Management Services to
European Dynamics in relation to software
development activities (web applications) for the European Commission and other European organisations.
Since January 2007 I work as a Principal Consultant for
INVENSYS Process Systems in the area of Dynamic Simulation and Operator Training Simulators.
