Abstract: Despite the privileges of the international institutional
environment and those based on the convention between O.A. and the
Greek State, the account registered financial results of Olympic
Airways (O.A.) since its nationalisation in 1975 up to 1990, reached
an cumulative deficit of more than 160 billion GRD, (800 million
US$). Does, however, these economic results reflect the real financial
position of the Greek National carrier? How can these deficits be
explained comparatively with the impressive development of Olympic
according to indexes such as 'number of jet airplanes used', 'number
of passengers carried', 'annual flight hours', 'annual kilometers
flown' 'productivity of labour', 'flight safety' e.t.c. This book
gives objective answers based on certain facts to the following
questions: Which was the experience from Onasis management of Olympic?
Why Olympic was nationalised by a conservative government? What
was the experience from the state (conservatives and socialists)
management of the Greek National Carrier? This book is based on
the research of the Thesis of the author.
