Living in a new millennium, we all need to see things from a new perspective in order to understand and influence the changes that happen around us. This can only happen if we cultivate a renaissance-like view of things. A "Leonardo da Vinci" way of being and creating.
This demands some work from all of us. We need to realize that it is our responsibility to be active and not passive beings in this wonderful wild world. It is our responsibility to be cultivated both in the arts and in the sciences. This is the only way to survive in the new world and at the same time keep our self-respect intact.
Here is the catch. Self respect. One should have an opinion on things. An informed opinion. A sensitive opinion. A daring opinion. An opinion of aesthetic value. A thesis, not an antithesis. Then, also, democracy will become once again, as important and as valuable as it was in the time of its creation in ancient Greece!
We neither learn the piano to become a new Richter, nor learn painting to become a new Picasso. We neither learn Relativity to create the time-travel machine, nor do we learn Electricity to create the new microwave oven. We neither read Heidegger in order to present papers in seminars, nor do we enjoy being at a theatrical performance because we aspire to become a new sir Laurence Olivier. Few of us do all these because they are the new Einstein, the new Joyce, or the new Nijinsky, but, we, the rest, we do all these in order to become capable of recognizing our limits, in order to become capable of ameliorating our limits, in order to understand ourselves and the others. In order to welcome the others and the foreigners. In order to be happy living in a world as multifarious and vibrant as our earth. In order to infiltrate happiness, optimism and awareness to our children. In order to make our children better than ourselves. We do all these in order to be happy, and understand why we are happy. And we do all these in order to understand when and why we are not happy and to change that!
amorphous.art tries to keep such a renaissance-like look at things. Teaching, proposing, presenting and not being afraid to touch any part of the civilized facet of our species. Art, science and philosophy are approached through a primitive, direct way, a chaotic way. For some people this site may look as a site with no order or structure. For many this will not be a site that one can rapidly grasp and then continue "business as usual". Well, yes, this site is not for people in a hurry!
