PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Registered Civil Engineer (Technical Chamber of Greece ID No: 68086), practicing the profession since September 1994.

Since July 1999 a Design Engineer based in Athens. Registration to the Register of Design Engineers of the Greek Ministry of Environment, Regional Planning & Public Works (ID No: 14147). Diploma of A’ Class Designer for Categories 13 & 27 (Hydraulic works and Environmental Impact assessment projects).

Other current and previous activities:

April 2001 – June 2001: International Referee for IWA World Water Congress held in Berlin, 15-19th October 2001.

March 2001 – to date: Manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Waste Management.

Nov 1998 – May 2000: Corps of Engineers of the Greek Army. Compulsory 18 month service. Involved in structural design and sanitation projects in Army camps.

Nov 1999 – March 2000: Assigned by the Army Corps of Engineers to work for the Greek Ministry of Public Works and the Environment in assessing building damage and repair methods following September 1999 major earthquake in Athens.

Feb 1998 – April 1998: During the third year of my PhD study served as Senior Researcher for feasibility study on the usage of an array of chemical conditioners to aid primary settlement of wastewater. Contract work awarded to Starthclyde University public Health Laboratory by Wabag Water Engineering Ltd, Oxon, England.

June 1997 - Aug 1997: During the second year of my PhD study appointed (full time) as an Assistant Engineer with Babtie Group, Bothwell Street Office, Glasgow. The project involved the estimation of present and future sludge quantities arising within the catchment of a proposed Sludge Treatment Centre (client of PFI project: Scottish power).

Jan 1997 - April 1997: During the second year of my PhD study appointed (part time) by Wabag Water Engineering Ltd., Oxon, England to supervision and optimise the operation of a Lamella plate - sedimentation pilot plant in Dalmuir sewage works (West of Scotland Water).
